Lineage Vineyard was a passion project founded by the philanthropist and successful entrepreneur, Mr. Craig Hinkins. After visiting the local sites of the heritage listed town in Evandale, Tasmania, nestled right in the heart of the renowned Tamar Valley wine region, Mr Hinkins began his pursuit by amassing a significant land portfolio in the iconic wine area. Captivated by the local beauty of the region, Mr Hinkins pursued his passion for developing fine wines and created Lineage Vineyard. Developed on the picturesque country side in Evandale, Lineage has now been developed as one of the largest single lot, premium vineyards in the region. Through his significant investment in the region, Mr. Hinkins has also made a significant contribution to the local community.

Mr. Craig Hinkins has combined aspects of his successful business investments, most notably, his interest in the iconic Melbourne Pentridge precinct, with his love of Evandale and the elegant wines it produces.

Creating a world class, cool climate Pinot Noir, Mr. Hinkins has created "The Prodigy" - a delicate, yet sophisticated Pinot Noir, dedicated as a tribute to the Australian icon, Edward "Ned" Kelly.

The Prodigy sits alongside "The Father" in the Lineage wine collection, a bolder and more complex red wine named after Ned Kelly's father John ("Red") Kelly, who served time as a prisoner in the very town of Evandale where the Lineage Vineyard resides.

The father and son lineage will be forever etched in history as they are brought together as Mr. Hinkins created a dedicated block of the finest vines and imported some of the bluestone from Pentridge prison where Ned Kelly spent time as a prisoner, as a representation to unite Ned with his Father John at Evandale.

 

The Father and the Prodigy accompanies the more delicate and beautiful white wine produced from the vineyard, "The Leannan" - a Chardonnay tribute to Ned's mother and John's wife, Ellen. The name, has special meaning, representing the Irish word for "sweetheart" or "beloved" - once again combining the the Irish ancestry of the Kelly family into a series of unparalleled wine to enjoy with love and spirit, just as Mr. Craig Hinkins intended.
